How to Play Minecraftle
Minecraftle is a fan-made daily crafting-recipe puzzle. One secret recipe, a 3×3 grid, and 10 guesses. This guide matches the marks you see in the game: Correct, Move, and Not needed. Mincraftle, minecrafle, and minecraftel are common misspellings of Minecraftle, this same puzzle. It is not a guide to the video game Minecraft, and it is not affiliated with Mojang or Microsoft.
The goal
Each puzzle hides one crafting recipe. Your job is to rebuild that recipe by placing ingredients into a 3×3 grid. You do not need to know the item’s name in advance. The feedback after each guess tells you which ingredients belong and which slots are already right.
The ingredient tray is the whole pantry for every puzzle: Planks, Stick, Cobblestone, Iron, Gold, Diamond, String, and Redstone. Empty slots are part of real recipes, so leaving a cell blank is often correct.
Each round
- Choose Daily on the homepage, or open Unlimited if you want a practice recipe.
- Select an ingredient. Keys 1 through 8 select the tray from left to right. Key 0 selects Empty.
- Choose a slot on the 3×3 grid. Arrow keys move between slots. Delete or Backspace clears the slot you are on. Selecting the same ingredient again on a filled slot removes it.
- Press Check recipe or the Enter key. You need at least one ingredient on the board. A repeated arrangement is rejected so you do not spend a guess twice.
- Read the mark on every slot, adjust, and check again. You have 10 guesses.
Shapes can sit in different positions on the grid, the same way a crafting recipe can be nudged if the pattern still fits. Trust the marks rather than memorizing one fixed corner.
Correct, Move, and Not needed
- Correct — this ingredient is in the right slot. In hard mode, leave it there.
- Move — this ingredient is in the recipe, but in a different slot. Keep it and try another cell.
- Not needed — this ingredient is not part of this recipe. Take it out.
Duplicate ingredients are counted. If the recipe needs two sticks and you placed three, the extras come back as Not needed after the real matches are used. Correct slots are claimed before Move slots.
An example that is not today’s puzzle
Picture a teaching pattern only: three planks across the top, a stick in the center, and a stick on the bottom center. That shape is not today’s puzzle, and it is not printed as the daily answer.
- Those planks placed on the bottom row instead: each one is Move.
- A diamond in a corner: Not needed.
- A stick that already sits in the center: Correct.
Daily and Unlimited
Daily is one recipe for the UTC date. The countdown on the board is the time until 00:00 UTC. Solving today’s daily puzzle extends your streak. Losing it, or missing a day after you have already started a streak, resets the streak. If you have not finished today yet, yesterday’s streak is still there.
Unlimited is practice. Open /unlimited/, or press Unlimited on the homepage. Each round can be a different recipe, including one you send to a friend as a challenge link. Unlimited results do not change the daily streak. When a round ends, Another recipe starts a new one. Play unlimited from a finished daily round does the same.
Your browser stores the current board, your guesses, and daily wins on this device. If storage is blocked, the round still works until you leave the page.
Share a result
After a daily round ends, Share today’s result copies a score and a 3×3 grid of marks. Green is Correct, yellow is Move, and black is Not needed. The text does not include the recipe name. A friend who opens the link plays that same puzzle.
Hard mode
Hard mode keeps every Correct slot locked. After a guess, any slot marked Correct — including a Correct empty slot — must keep that same ingredient on later guesses. Move and Not needed slots can still change. You do not have to fill all nine cells, because recipes can include empty slots. Hard mode is saved in this browser.
Past dailies are listed in Archive on the daily puzzle. A date has to be today or earlier in UTC. Opening one plays that puzzle, and the recipe stays hidden until the round ends. Those rounds do not change your daily streak. Stats — win rate, games played, daily solves, current streak, max streak, and a 1-to-10 guess distribution — are saved in this browser from finished daily games.
Keyboard
- 1–8 — select an ingredient in tray order
- 0 — select Empty
- Arrow keys — move between the nine slots
- Delete or Backspace — clear the current slot
- Enter — check the recipe
- ? — open the rules dialog, which uses the same Correct / Move / Not needed labels as the board
Each slot’s name includes its row, column, ingredient, and mark, so a screen reader can follow the board without seeing today’s answer early. The answer grid appears only after you solve the puzzle or use all 10 guesses.
