Past dailies use UTC

The Minecraftle day flips at 00:00 UTC. That is the same clock as the countdown on the daily puzzle. “Today” in the archive means that UTC date, not the date on your laptop if you are still in the previous evening or already in the next morning locally.

Each UTC date has one secret recipe. Players who open that date are solving the same pattern, with the same 10 guesses and the same Correct, Move, and Not needed marks described on the rules page. The archive does not invent a second recipe for people who show up late. It replays the recipe that date already used.

Your streak cares about the current daily only. Playing yesterday from the archive does not repair a missed day, and it does not extend today’s streak. If you want a fresh pattern that is not tied to the calendar, use Unlimited. Unlimited is practice. The archive is the calendar.

How to open a past puzzle

On the homepage, press Archive beside Rules and Stats. A month view lists days. Days after today in UTC are not selectable. Pick a day on or before today and the board loads that puzzle. Today’s cell returns you to the normal daily URL.

You can also open a date directly: https://www.minecraftle.net/?puzzle=YYYY-MM-DD. Replace the date with a real UTC day that is today or earlier. A concrete shape for the link is /?puzzle=2026-01-15. That URL plays that day’s puzzle if the date is valid and not in the future. It does not print the recipe on this page, and the board keeps the pattern hidden until you solve the round or use all 10 guesses.

A bad date does not become a puzzle. The value has to look like a calendar day, and it has to be a real day that formats back to the same YYYY-MM-DD string. Text, empty values, and dates after today are ignored. You land on the current daily instead of a leaked future board.

Hard mode, if you turned it on, still applies. Correct slots lock, including a Correct empty slot. That setting is explained on the hard mode page and is saved in this browser, not inside the date link.

What an archive round does not change

Archive games do not change your streak. They do not replace today’s unfinished board unless you are deliberately opening another date. When you come back to the homepage without a puzzle query, you are on today’s daily again, with today’s saved guesses if this browser still has them.

The recipe stays hidden until the round ends. Share, if you use it after you finish, copies marks, not a written crafting list. There is no answer key beside the calendar. Hints talk about how to spend guesses. The answer page explains why a standing spoiler would be wrong the next morning. The solver page is about process, not a dump of old grids.

Stats on the board are about finished daily games saved in this browser. Opening the archive to browse the month does not by itself add a win. Finish the round if you want that day’s result recorded the way the game records daily solves. Clearing site data clears that local history. It does not change which recipe a past date uses.

Do archive games change my streak?

No. Archive rounds do not change your daily streak. Only the current UTC daily does. Future dates do not open.
